Hyderabad: Dr G Bhanuprakash Reddy, Scientist G and Head, Biochemistry, National Institute of Nutrition (NIN), has been elected as the Fellow of the National Academy of Agricultural Sciences (NAAS) in recognition of his significant research contributions to nutritional sciences.
Dr Reddy’s research focuses on aspects of human nutrition, including nutrient requirements, deficiencies and the effect of food/nutrition on chronic diseases.
His studies discovered the role of micronutrients in the development of diabetic complications and revealed how deficiency of some micronutrients can influence the molecular processes involved in age-related disorders.
He also pioneered research on functional foods, identifying novel bioactive molecules for diabetes, a press release said. With over 250 research papers, Dr Reddy has received several prestigious awards, including ICMR-Basanti Devi Award, Scopus Young Scientist award etc.
He is fellow of International union of Nutritional Sciences, The National Academy of Medical Sciences (NAMS), the National Academy of Sciences, India and Telangana Academy of Sciences (TAS).
