HYDERABAD: The National Medical Council (NMC) on Tuesday revoked the recognition to Mediciti Institute of Medical Sciences in Ghanpur, cancelling admissions to the MBBS course for the 2023-24 academic year.
The college, affiliated to the Kaloji Narayana Rao University of Health Sciences (KNRUHS) in Warangal, is run by the Share Medical Care Trust, which is chaired by former BJP MP and ex-MoS Y. Sujana Chowdary.
The trust has a medical college, a nursing college, and a hospital with over 600 free-service beds.
The NMC, under the supervision of the Medical Council of India, in its annual inspection of infrastructure facilities, accessibility to students and staff, postings and student-patient ratios, among other criteria, found the college to have violated a few norms.
A notice was also sent to the college management before the licence was revoked.
Currently, over 750 students are pursuing MBBS and close to 150 students are pursuing postgraduate courses, who are all worried about their futures.
