A woman admitted with typhoid fever at Deepika Hospital in Karimnagar was allegedly sexually assaulted by an operation theatre technician after being injected with a sedative. Police registered a case and are awaiting the FSL report for confirmation of the offence.
Karimnagar: A patient was allegedly sexually assaulted by a hospital staff member at a private hospital in Karimnagar town. The woman, admitted to Deepika Hospital with typhoid fever, was allegedly assaulted by an operation theatre technician after he injected her with a sedative.
Family members of the patient lodged a complaint with Town-III police on Sunday. Acting on the complaint, police registered a case and began investigation. They secured the scene, checked CCTV footage, and conducted the victim’s medical examination. Commenting on the case on Monday, Commissioner of Police Gaush Alam said confirmation of sexual assault would be possible only after receiving the Forensic Science Laboratory (FSL) report.
“It was recorded in CCTV footage that the accused went inside and pulled the curtain. What happened inside the curtain was not clear,” the Commissioner said.
