Medchal police arrests 37-year-old suspect, Shaik Emam, a stone cutter from Majeedpur, Shamirper and a native of Karimnagar
Hyderabad: The Medchal police on Monday claimed that they have solved the brutal murder of a 30-year-old woman, whose body was found last week near the culvert of Outer Ring Road, by arresting a 37-year-old suspect, Shaik Emam, a stone cutter from Majeedpur, Shamirper and a native of Karimnagar.
The Medchal police maintained that an argument over payment following a sexual activity led to the murder.
The 30-year-old victim, who is married and native of Bodhan in Nizamabad left her house over a family dispute and was residing in a rented house at Kushaiguda. She was working as a construction worker.
On January 23, according to the police, Shaik Emam spotted the victim standing near the Medchal bus stop, approached her, and offered Rs 500 to satisfy his sexual urge. He took her on his bike to a secluded spot under the causeway of the ORR at Muneerabad on the outskirts of Medchal.
“At that spot, they participated in sexual activity and after that the victim demanded for more money. The suspect refused and started arguing with her. During the heated argument, he caught hold of her neck and she fell unconscious. He then grabbed a stone from the nearby spot and bludgeoned her to death,” said N Koti Reddy, DCP Medchal.
Later, he poured petrol over the body and lit fire to ensure there is no evidence and fled the scene of offense. The incident came to light when passersby noticed half burnt body of the woman and informed the police the next day.
The Medchal police had formed special teams and through the scientific analysis of the victim’s mobile phone and verifying numerous CCTV cameras cracked the case. The suspect was arrested from his native village.
