Khammam: A fire broke out at the cotton yard in Khammam agriculture market late on Wednesday evening.
According to sources, the fire broke out in a shed at the market where around 400 bags of cotton were stored.

The market was closed for the past five days in view of the Sankranti festival and staff could not arrive on time at the spot as it was a holiday.
Before the firefighters arrived at the market over 150 bags were said to have been burnt and the timely action of the locals averted major damage.
The reason for the fire and the extent of the loss were yet to be ascertained.
