Pathaan controversy: FIR filed in Lucknow for morphing CM Yogi’s image in place of Deepika Padukone
Ever since the song ‘Besharam Rang’ from Shah Rukh Khan’s upcoming flick Pathaan was released, it has been surrounded by controversies. Now, an FIR has been filed in Lucknow against a Twitter handle for sharing a snippet of the song with Uttar Pradesh CM Yogi Adityanath’s face in place of Deepika Padukone.
A Twitter handle named, AzaarSRK_, shared a picture with CM Yogi’s morphed in place of Pathaan’s lead actress Deepika Padukone.
TWITTER USERS UPSET
Many BJP leaders and Twitter users found this objectionable and disrespectful and demanded strict action against the accused.
An FIR has been registered under Section 295A of the Indian Penal Code (IPC) and Section 66 of the Information Technology (IT) Act.
The cyber team of DGP headquarters is currently investigating the matter.
BESHARAM RANG AND THE CONTROVERSY
The song ‘Besharam Rang‘ from Pathaan has courted controversies ever since it was released. Starring Shah Rukh Khan and Deepika Padukone, the song received heavy backlash on social media and from several political leaders.
Madhya Pradesh minister Dr Narottam Mishra fumed over the use of saffron costumes in the song. He found several scenes from the song objectionable and obscene.
He even threatened to ban the movie in Madhya Pradesh if those shots are not replaced.
Meanwhile, Vishwa Hindu Parishad and Bajrang Dal fiercely opposed the shooting of one of Shah Rukh Khan’s film in Jabalpur. They also raised slogans for hours and were seen chanting Hanuman Chalisa at the protest site.
Pathaan is set to release on January 25, 2023, featuring Shah Rukh Khan, Deepika Padukone, and John Abraham in pivotal roles.
