Pawan Kalyan to visit Polavaram project

Jana Sena chief Pawan Kalyan.

VIJAYAWADA: Jana Sena chief Pawan Kalyan would visit the Polavaram irrigation project venue to ascertain the progress of the project and implementation of the resettlement and rehabilitation package for the project- affected people soon.

Jana Sena political affairs committee chairman Nadendla Manohar informed this to the media  on Wednesday.

He said the YSRC government failed to complete the project despite it changing the contract agency and extending the deadline repeatedly.

Referring to Chief Minister Y.S. Jagan Mohan Reddy’s statement in the Assembly that the government was getting ready to complete the work on the project dam at a height of 41.15 meters and provide R and R package to the project-affected people, he asked the state government whether it agreed with the Centre to keep the dam height at 41.15 metres.

He said that during their recent interaction with the Union minister for Jal Shakti Gajendra Singh Shekawat, they came to know several issues of the project. The Centre was ready to give a financial assistance of `20,000 crore for the project, he said.

The Jana Sena PAC chairman said Pawan Kalyan held elaborate discussions with the BJP’s top leadership on how they aimed to make AP free from the YSR Congress rule.

In a strong reaction to the statement of Jana Sena PAC chairman on the Polavaram dam height — that AP had agreed for 41.15 metres instead of 45.72 metres, AP water resources minister Ambati Rambabu tweeted, saying that there was no truth in this.
