‘Persecution of minorities…’, Tamil Nadu CM MK Stalin on International Day to Combat Islamophobia
Tamil Nadu Chief Minister MK Stalin has talked about persecution of minorities on International Day to Combat Islamophobia.
Stalin’s views have come on the heels of rising attacks on minorities especially Muslims by cow vigilantes. Along with Muslims, Christian community has also faced attacks on their churches in different parts of he country.
“History is replete with odious acts of discrimination & persecution of minorities that remain a blot on humankind. On International Day to Combat Islamophobia, let’s resolve to fight the systemic oppression of minorities& protect their rights in line with constitutional values,” Tamil Nadu Chief Minister tweeted on Wednesday.
Recently two Muslim men-Junaid and Nasir- were abducted, killed and burnt in their SUV car in Haryana allegedly by cow vigilantes. The victims were resident of Rajasthan.
The accused in this case were identified as Lokesh Singla, Rinku Saini and Shrikant. They are recorded as police informers in the records of Haryana police. Rajasthan Police in its FIR also named infamous cow vigilante Monu Manesar in connection with the killing of two Muslim men.
Similarly, a church was attacked in Chhattisgarh’s Narayanpur district early in January this year. The church, located in a private school, in the city was attacked after a protest against alleged religious conversion in the tribal-dominated area.
