Hyderabad: Dialysis patients at the Government General Hospital in Vikarabad faced severe hardship on Wednesday after a prolonged power outage and lack of generator backup at the Dialysis Centre.
Patients said there was no power supply for over three hours, and despite repeated complaints to hospital staff, no steps were taken to restore electricity.
“It has been three hours since dialysis has not commenced and we are facing a lot of problems. I appeal to the officials to restore power immediately,” one patient said in a video that has since circulated on social media.
Meanwhile, heavy rains have been lashing Vikarabad district since Tuesday night, disrupting electricity in several areas and affecting traffic. Agricultural fields were inundated at multiple locations.
In Bomraspet mandal, nearly 70 sheep were killed when a speeding vehicle ran into the flock on the road. The shepherds, Yellappa and Malkappa, said they could not note down the vehicle’s registration number due to heavy rain, and the vehicle sped off without stopping.
