Priest among 3 held for lynching man in Gurgaon; Rs 25 lakh cheating case behind Saket court shooting
Gurgaon Police arrested three accused, including a 57-year-old priest, in the lynching of a 24-year-old man, who was attacked after he accidentally broke a part of an idol while cleaning it in Gurgaon’s Khandsa village on Wednesday. The deceased’s body was found outside Bani Wala temple on Thursday. The accused include head priest Ajit Singh (57) and his two associates Premjeet Balhara (32) and Sonu (27). Police said Balhara and Sonu are criminals out on bail.
Meanwhile, a suspended lawyer Kameshwar Kumar Singh allegedly shot at a woman, M Radha, against whom he had filed a case last year for “cheating” him of Rs 25 lakh on Friday. According to police, Singh had enrolled in the Bar Council of Delhi in 2005. He practised at Saket court, dealing in civil and criminal cases. In 2017, an advocate, also practising at Saket court, filed a case of land grab against him, due to which he was suspended from BCD on September 12 last year for two years.
In other news, the Public Works Department (PWD) is undertaking several measures to prevent waterlogging this monsoon, officials said. These include CCTV cameras and 24-hour surveillance, alarm to check water level, permanent pump sets and automatic pump houses. The department has identified 165 waterlogging spots and five hotspots in the city as it begins monsoon preparedness.
