Hyderabad: Prithviraj Sukumaran’s mother, Mallika Sukumaran, has spoken out against the misinformation and criticism surrounding L2: Empuraan. She urged people to be fair and not accuse others of crimes they did not commit.
“I am over 70 years old, and I believe people should understand the truth,” she said. “Those who spread falsehoods will have to answer to God.”
She also addressed rumors that Prithviraj pleaded with the censor board to approve the film. She clarified that his presence during the film’s certification was standard procedure, as either the director or producer must be available to answer any questions.
Criticising media coverage, she condemned a journalist who referred to Prithviraj as a “dumb” person who frequently changes his stance. “It is wrong to use such words publicly. Prithviraj does not change his opinions like some media persons who switch channels,” she remarked.
She concluded by stating that Prithviraj respects all political beliefs and has never opposed anyone’s personal views. “Truth alone triumphs,” she said.
Despite the controversy, L2E has been a massive hit, crossing Rs 200 crores becoming the second Malayalam film to achieve this feat after Manjummel Boys.
Directed by Prithviraj Sukumaran, Empuraan features Mohanlal, Tovino Thomas, Abhimanyu Singh, Manju Warrier, Prithviraj Sukumaran, Indrajith Sukumaran, Sachin Khedekar, Saniya Iyappan, Sshivada Nair, Suraj Venjaramoodu, among others.
