Punjab Police arrests sixth shooter in Dera follower murder case after brief encounter
The sixth accused wanted in the murder of a Dera Sacha Sauda follower, Pradeep Singh, was arrested after a brief encounter with the Punjab Police AGTF (Anti-gangster task force). The suspected shooter, identified as Ramjan Khan alias Raj Hooda, sustained two bullet injuries in the shoot-out in Jaipur’s Jagatpura.
Khan was arrested after the encounter where he got shot in his leg, news agency PTI quoted Promod Ban, head of the AGTF- Punjab Police, as saying. Khan was nabbed over his alleged involvement in the killing of Singh.
Following the shoot-out, Khan was admitted to a hospital.
Notably, five other accused who killed a Dera follower Pradeep Singh on November 10 have already been arrested.
SIXTH SUSPECTED SHOOTER ARRESTED
The encounter was executed in coordination with Rajasthan Police Force central agencies, Director General of Police Gaurav Yadav shared.
Dera Sacha Sauda follower Singh was accused in the 2015 Bargari sacrilege case. He was shot by six assailants in Faridkot on November 10. Singh was killed despite being accorded security by Punjab Police.
Other five suspected shooters have been arrested, including three minors who were nabbed by Delhi Police. The other two were arrested by Punjab Police. Khan is said to be the main suspect in the murder of the Dera follower, news agency quoted PTI Pramod Ban as saying.
“We will question him in detail once we bring him here,” said Pramod Ban while mentioning that the accused repeatedly changed his hideouts.
Khan moved from Chandigarh to Hisar and then came back to Chandigarh, and on Saturday, he reached Jaipur, said Ban. It may be noted that Goldy Brar claimed responsibility for the killing in a social media post. Brar was the main accused in the murder case of Punjabi singer Sidhu Moosewala.
On Saturday, the police said that the interrogation and evidence collated so far establish Brar’s involvement in the murder case. They said his involvement was beyond doubt and that Brar was the key conspirator in the case.
Also, on Sunday, Punjab Police nabbed a Panjab University MA third-semester student who allegedly sent Rs 20,000 to gangster Manpreet.
