R-Truth finally breaks silence on legitimate beef with John Cena
John Cena’s legitimate beef with fellow WWE Superstar R-Truth has finally been explained.
In one of wrestling’s more surprising stories, it’s pretty common knowledge that R-Truth and John Cena didn’t particularly like each other during the early 2000s.
During the early 2000s, rumours speared across the wrestling community claiming that Truth and Cena had a pretty public falling out at an airport, and know we know more.
What happened between John Cena and R-Truth?
Rumours of R-Truth having legitimate beef with Cena starting during the 50-year-old’s run with TNA, which started after his first run with WWE had come to an end in 2002.
During his time with TNA (now IMPACT Wrestling), information about Truth and Cena’s falling out became public, and in a recent interview with Nothing Beats Experience, the WWE star has finally spoken about the pair’s relationship.
Truth didn’t speak much about the incident itself, but more about how Cena reacted when he returned to WWE to start his second run in 2008.
The former United States Champion said that when he rejoined WWE, everyone was waiting to see how he’d interact with Cena, who was the company’s top star at the time, via Thirsty For News.
When I signed back to the company, Cena was the big dog and everybody was waiting for us to meet face-to-face. Everybody was waiting, knew I signed back. The boys are so crazy, man. Umaga, RIP Umaga, man, he got me to come back and even he was in the locker room.
Speaking about how that interaction went down, Truth said that Cena looked at him, and asked if they’d have any issues, and Truth said they wouldn’t.
When I got to the locker room, all of the boys were sitting down just watching. Cena was in the bathroom. So, when I came in I didn’t notice. They’re all sitting there waiting. When he came in, he looked, he said, ‘We not gonna have any problems, are we?’ I said, ‘Man, hell no. I’m on your ship.”
How are John Cena and R-Truth now?
It’s believed that Cena and Truth have completely resolved their issues and are now on good terms. The pair worked together several times during Truth’s second run with WWE, either as partners or rivals.
As for what they’re doing now, Cena is no longer a full-time WWE Superstar, instead focusing more on his career as an actor in Hollywood.
However, John does make appearances for WWE when his busy schedule allows for it, with the next believed to be ahead of a match at WrestleMania 39 with Austin Theory.
As for Truth, as he approaches the end of his full-time career, the WWE Superstar appears on TV less frequently than ever before.
