Raghava Constructions, MEIL contributed Rs 148 crore to Congress via electoral bonds: Bakka Judson

Narayanpet-Kodangal lift irrigation project cost increased to Rs 4,350 crore to favour the firms, alleges former AICC member; demands probe
HYDERABAD: Former AICC member and social activist Bakka Judson on Friday alleged that Megha Engineering and Infrastructure Limited (MEIL) and Raghava Constructions had contributed Rs 148 crore to the Indian National Congress through electoral bonds, besides the Narayanpet-Kodangal lift irrigation project cost was increased to favour the companies.
He also stated that the retaining wall at the Sunkishala intake well had collapsed on August 2, 2024. But the Sunkishala inquiry report was not shared in public domain so far, he charged.
In 2014, the Narayanpet-Kodangal lift irrigation scheme was estimated to cost Rs 1,450.51 crore. The estimated cost was increased to Rs 4,350 crore in 2024. Despite the significant cost increase, there was no publicly accessible Government Order (GO) or Detailed Project Report (DPR) to justify the increase, leading to suspicions of deliberate manipulation to benefit the companies, he said in a statement.
“An independent investigation agency like CBI should probe into all these irregularities,” Bakka Judson demanded.
