Karimnagar: Rain disturbed Saddula Bathukamma celebrations in a few parts of the erstwhile Karimnagar district. Saddula Bathukamma, the last day of the nine-day flowers festival, was celebrated on a grand scale in erstwhile Karimnagar district on Thursday.
Dressed in colourful sarees and jewellery, women celebrated Bathukamma festival ceremoniously by dancing around the deity.
As soon as the woman started to sing and dance, the rain emerged as a spoilsport resulting in an halt in celebrations. As it continued to rain, the women went on with the immersion activity instead.
After immersing Bathukamma in nearby water bodies, women shared ‘sathu pindi’ (flour made by using different grains) which marks as an important event in the Saddula Bathukamma celebrations.
On the other hand, elaborate arrangements were made for celebrations by gram panchayats, and municipalities for the convenience of women. Besides leveling the grounds, lighting, drinking water and other arrangements were made at areas meant for celebration.
Local MLA Gangula Kamalakar, Mayor Y Sunil Rao and others participated in Saddula Bathukamma celebrations in different parts of Karimnagar town.
