Remark over spicy mutton curry leads to suicide of newly married couple in Jagtial

A newly married couple from Jagtial district died by suicide within a month of their wedding. The wife ended her life on Dasara after a brief argument, and the husband took the same extreme step on Diwali out of grief.

Jagtial: In a tragic turn of events, a newly married couple died by suicide within a month of their wedding. While the wife ended her life on the day of Dasara, the husband took the extreme step on Diwali.

Residents of Eldandi village in Ibrahimpatnam mandal, Allepu Santhosh and Gangotri were in love for four years before marrying on September 26 with the consent of their families.

On Dasara, October 2, Santhosh had gone to his in-laws’ house for lunch, where he reportedly made a remark to his wife about the mutton curry being too spicy. Upset over this, Gangotri allegedly hanged herself at her parents’ home later that night.

Distressed after her death, Santhosh had been withdrawn and reportedly went to his sister’s house in Adilabad a week ago. On Tuesday, when other family members were away, he too ended his life by hanging.
