Sangareddy: Former NASSCOM chairman Kiran Karnik said Artificial Intelligence (AI) would create more jobs, just as earlier technological advancements such as computers did, countering the growing fears that AI would render many existing jobs redundant.
Drawing an analogy with the recently concluded India–England Test match at Lord’s, Karnik said the pitch behaved differently each of the five days, requiring batters and bowlers to adapt using distinct skill sets.
Similarly, he noted, students pursuing technology-related courses must continuously adapt and upgrade their skills to keep pace with rapid advancements.
Speaking at the 16th graduation ceremony of GITAM University Hyderabad, held at Rudraram campus in Sangareddy district on Saturday, Karnik said: “Young people will need to reskill and continue learning throughout their careers to seize opportunities in the evolving AI landscape.”
He pointed out that technology was now transforming faster than ever before and noted that even the gig economy had created more employment than anticipated.
