Rohit is probably sick watching himself on TV: When Wasim Akram was annoyed during a pre-match show of Afghanistan vs Pakistan

Former Pakistan captain Wasim Akram jokingly deflected a question on Rohit Sharma during a pre-match show ahead of the Asia Cup Super 4 match between Pakistan and Afghanistan in Sharjah on Wednesday, September 7. Akram was not impressed by a question about the India captain in the lead-up to the crunch Super 4 match as he was handling commentary duties with former India batter Sanjay Manjrekar.

Reputed presenter Mayanti Langer had asked Wasim Akram a question on India’s approach to their T20I game after the loss to Sri Lanka to which the former Pakistan fast bowler requested Sanjay Manjrekar to respond to the question.

However, Mayanti jokingly told Akram to take the question to which the former Pakistan fast bowler explained why the focus should have been on the upcoming match and not on India.

Both Wasim Akram and Sanjay Manjrekar along with Mayanti handled the moment well as the phase of conversation ended with a smile.

“Rohit Sharma is probably sick watching himself on TV. Two other teams are playing. I discussed India yesterday all day long. Today is Pakistan vs Afghanistan. That’s why I am saying, Sanjay all yours,” Akram responded after he was asked the question about India’s inability to go full-throttle in the death overs.

Notably, India were eliminated from the race to the Asia Cup 2022 play-offs after Pakistan defeated Afghanistan by just 1 wicket in a thriller in Sharjah on Wednesday.

India lost to Pakistan and Sri Lanka in the Super 4 stage. Rohit Sharma hit a solid 41-ball 72 against Sri Lanka but India kept losing wickets at regular intervals as Sri Lanka restricted the defending champions to just 173 at the end of 20 overs.

India’s middle-order batters, including Hardik Pandya, Rishabh Pant, and Deepak Hooda struggled to get going, as the Asian giants managed just 48 runs in the last 5 overs.

Sri Lanka chased down the total in the final over with 6 wickets to spare and book a spot in the final.

The Super 4 match between Afghanistan and Pakistan lived up to expectations as the match swung in both directions before No. 11 batter Naseem Shah finished it with 2 sixes when 11 was needed in the final over.
