RPF nabs 152 persons for stealing valuables of passengers; Rs.94.02 lakh recovered

Hyderabad: The Railway Protection Force (RPF), Secunderabad division arrested a total of 152 persons on charges of stealing valuables belonging to passengers in trains and railway station premises until now this year. Officials recovered stolen material worth Rs 94.02 lakh from them.
This registered an increase of 18 per cent in recovery of property when compared to the corresponding period of previous year, South Central Railway officials said.
In 2023, RPF, under Operation Yatri Suraksha, the RPF nabbed 234 offenders who were involved in theft of passengers’ valuables and property worth Rs 97.26 lakh was recovered.
All the arrested offenders were further handed over to the Government Railway Police (GRP).
Debashmita Chattopadhyay Banerjee, the Senior Divisional Security Commissioner, Secunderabad requested rail passengers to take care of their belongings and report any suspicious activities or persons through the railway helpline 139.
