Russia carries out massive attack, launches 36 rockets on Ukraine, says Volodymyr Zelensky
Ukrainian President Zelensky claimed that Russia carried out a “massive” attack on his country overnight, reportedly AFP. Most of the rockets fired by Moscow were reportedly shot down. Zelensky’s statement came following reports of a Russian attack on energy infrastructure that caused power outage across the war-torn country.
“The aggressor continues to terrorise our country. At night, the enemy launched a massive attack: 36 rockets, most of which were shot down… These are vile strikes on critical objects. Typical tactics of terrorists,” the Ukrainian President said on social media as quoted by news agency AFP.
Earlier this week, Zelensky stated that t Russia had turned Ukraine’s power grid into a “battlefield”. He also claimed that Russian strikes destroyed more than 30 percent of Ukraine’s power stations forcing Ukrainian authorities to impose energy-saving measures.

Meanwhile, Ukraine launched a counter-offensive in the eastern and southern regions of the country. Recently, Ukrainian forces reclaimed swathes of territories in the Kherson region. Due to the advancement of Ukrainian troops, pro-Russian officials in the region ordered residents to evacuate the area.
Russia started its military operation in Ukraine on February 24 this year. Last month Russian President Vladimir Putin announced the annexation of four Ukrainian regions, including Kherson. The other three regions annexed by Moscow are – Zaporizhzhia, Luhansk and Donetsk.
