Saddula Bathukamma was celebrated with traditional fervour across Karimnagar and Rajanna-Sircilla districts. While the festival is typically observed on the ninth day of Engilipula Bathukamma, towns like Vemulawada continue celebrations for seven days.
Karimnagar: Saddula Bathukamma was celebrated on a grand scale in several areas of the erstwhile Karimnagar district on Saturday. Traditionally, Saddula Bathukamma is observed on the ninth day of Engilipula Bathukamma across Telangana. However, in some places, the festival is celebrated after seven days.
Vemulawada temple town is one such place where Saddula Bathukamma celebrations are held for seven days. Along with Vemulawada, the festival was also observed in Bommakal, Kazipur and Bavupeta in Karimnagar district, as well as Shatharajupalli and Sankepalli in Rajanna-Sircilla district.
Women in these areas have the special privilege to celebrate Saddula Bathukamma both at their in-laws’ homes and at their maternal homes.
