Seamless access to training facilities for para athletes

With PCI coming on board as the official knowledge partner, the initiative marks a new chapter in enabling para-athletes to train, grow, and compete with dignity and equal opportunity

HYDERABAD: In a significant step towards inclusive sports development, HDFC ERGO General Insurance, India’s leading private sector general insurer has partnered with the Paralympic Committee of India (PCI) to launch PlayAble — a first-of-its-kind platform designed to provide India’s para-athletes with seamless access to training facilities, coaches, and like-minded training partners across the country.

With PCI coming on board as the official knowledge partner, the initiative marks a new chapter in enabling para-athletes to train, grow, and compete with dignity and equal opportunity.

Every athlete deserves the right tools to succeed, and the first step to it is having ‘access.’ PlayAble is more than just information; it is an amalgamation of the power of community, empowerment, and giving comfort for India’s para-athletes so that they can train without limitations.

Whether a para-athlete is looking for a specialised gym, an accessible swimming pool, or a partner to push them to their next personal best, PlayAble ensures that no one trains alone. HDFC ERGO has partnered with the Paralympic Committee of India to make PlayAble a reality.

“India’s para-athletes have shown the world what determination can achieve. But real consistent wins happen in an ecosystem where they train, compete, and push their limits regularly. PlayAble is a game-changer for para-athletes, for sports, and for India’s sporting future. With PlayAble, HDFC ERGO is not just supporting sports, it is rewriting the rules of inclusion,” said Devendra Jhajharia, President of the Paralympic Committee of India.

Speaking about this initiative, Sudakshina Bhattacharya, president & CHRO, HDFC ERGO General Insurance, said, “At HDFC ERGO, diversity and inclusion is more than an effort- it is an emotion that inspires us to create platforms where every individual regardless of their ability has an equal opportunity to thrive and shine.”

“We believe PlayAble is an answer to that challenge, telling every para-athlete in this country that no boundary is too great to overcome. Every champion deserves the right tools to succeed, and HDFC ERGO is here to play a part to make it happen,” he explained.

PlayAble stems from Love all by HDFC ERGO, India’s first open-source DEI (Diversity, Equity and Inclusion) movement to create and foster workplaces that work for all. Launched in 2024, Love all has been playing a pivotal role in the DEI space in corporate India through partnerships and participation.

PlayAble has been conceptualised and brought to life by BBH India, illustrating their creative prowess and deep commitment to the cause of inclusion. The partnership has played an instrumental role in shaping an idea into a ground-breaking platform that redefines what is possible for India’s para-athletes.

The PlayAble App covers a wide range of sports, including track and field, para-swimming, para-cycling, wheelchair basketball, and much more.
