Hyderabad: With over 20 demands, including establishment of a model primary school, along with a pre-primary section, in every village, the Secondary Grade Teachers Union Telangana staged a protest at Dharna Chowk here on Sunday.
Teachers wanted the State government to ensure every primary school has room for each class besides one teacher for one class and a headmaster for every primary school.
SGTU president, K Mahipal Reddy said students must be provided quality uniform, belt, tie, shoes and sportswear besides taking up development activities, including construction of toilets and provision of safe drinking water in all primary schools.
The teachers wanted the government to immediately sanction pending DAs, release pending bills and announce the PRC and to do away with CPS and implement the OPS policy.
Apart from seeking sanction of 5,500 primary school headmaster positions and promotion, the teachers sought cashless health cards, and said a monthly premium could be collected, if necessary.
