The Hyderabad Anti-Narcotics Bureau (ANB) has uncovered a disturbing new angle in the ongoing investigation, revealing that certain students, who have been enrolled in the college for the past three years, not only consumed drugs but also acted as suppliers, initiating their juniors into the drug habit.
TGANB officials, along with the EAGLE team, during their recent raid on a private medical college in Medchal, found several students had consumed marijuana. Of the 26 medicos tested, 8 including two women, tested positive.
Those who tested positive were referred to a de-addiction centre for rehabilitation.
The police have already arrested Arfath Ahmed Khan, a main supplier from the city, and Zareena Banu, a drug source from Bidar in connection with the case. It is learnt that more arrests are likely as the police probe deeper into the supply chain and the extent of drug use within the campus.
