Sexist comments on Telugu actor: Director Trinadha Rao apologises for his remarks in a video release

The netizens and the actor’s fans stormed the social media to express their displeasure, and slammed the director for his tasteless comments about the actor’s physical appearance and ‘size’

Telugu film director Trinadha Rao Nakkina kicked the hornet’s nest with his distasteful and sexist comments about Telugu actor Anshu, who is making a comeback in his upcoming directorial ‘Mazaka’.

The incident took place at a recent promotional event held for the film. While the actor in question maintained her composure with a dignified and graceful smile, her co-actors Sundeep Kishan and Ritu Varma who were also present at the event were clearly uncomfortable with the director’s comments.

The netizens and the actor’s fans stormed the social media to express their displeasure, and slammed the director for his tasteless comments about the actor’s physical appearance and ‘size’. Taking his remarks as suo moto, the Telangana State Women’s Commission have decided to send the director a legal notice, according to a statement released by Women’s Commission Chairperson Nerella Sharada.

Following this outrage, director Trinadha Rao now released a video tendering an apology to women for hurting their sentiments with his remarks and gestures.

“I’ve realised that my remarks at the teaser release event have hurt the women. Whatever happened was accidental and not something I had done intentionally. I apologise to all the women who I’ve involuntarily hurt with my comments. I am going to apologise to Anshu garu too. I also have girls at home and I didn’t mean to offend anyone. I was only trying to create some light-hearted moments at the event but never imagined that my remarks would become such a huge issue. I request everyone to please forgive me,” the director said in the video.
