The Bahujan Sahitya Academy’s committee selected Suresh Reddy for his social service activities in the last eight years
Kothagudem: Shyamala Gopalan Educational Foundation (SGEF) founder president Nalla Suresh Reddy of Paloncha in the district has been presented Bahujan Sahitya Academy’s (BSA) Dr APJ Abdul Kalam National Award.
The BSA national committee selected Suresh Reddy for the award in the social service category considering the services rendered by him in the last eight years. Under the aegis of SGEF he distributed essential goods, medicines, clothes, sanitisers and face masks in tribal villages during the Covid crisis besides providing services to Covid patients.
The SGEF paid fees and bus charges, provided books and new clothes for many poor students. He reconstructed Sri Moksha Venkateswara Swamy temple of Kakatiya period at Gudipadu village near Paloncha, constructed a Press Club for the local scribes.
Suresh Reddy’s services were included in the Academy’s Book of Records. As Suresh Reddy was unable to receive the award at a ceremony held in Hyderabad recently the BSA State committee office bearer B N Ramesh Kumar sent the award and citation to Paloncha and the local office-bearers presented the award to him, according to a statement here on Monday.
