Sheikh Jassim ready to buy Premier League rival if Manchester United takeover bid fails

Sheikh Jassim will attempt to buy Premier League rivals West Ham United if his bid for Manchester United fails.

The Qatari submitted a third and final take-it-or-leave-it bid last Tuesday, which came some two weeks after the initial deadline.

Jassim, who claims to be a Manchester United fan, has vowed to wipe the club’s debt and create a community fund to invest in the local area on top of his £5bn bid for full control.

But Sir Jim Ratcliffe remains the frontrunner as he’s offer two of the six Glazer siblings a chance to remain shareholders in the club.

The Qataris would be furious to miss out on the chance of landing an institution of Manchester United’s magnitude but their ambitions to move into the Premier League will not end if Jassim’s bid fails.

Tottenham had been linked with a Qatar-based bid earlier this year but El Pais say Jassim will look at buying West Ham if his bid for Old Trafford fails.

West Ham were rocked earlier this year when co-owner David Gold passed away and remaining co-owner, David Sullivan is open to offers for the club.

West Ham have the second biggest stadium in London and are through to the Europa Conference Final.
