
Sreenidi Deccan suffers 0-1 loss to Gokulam Kerala in I-League
Hyderabad: Sreenidi Deccan FC suffered a narrow 0-1 defeat against Gokulam Kerala FC in a Round 21 fixture of the I-League at the EMS Corporation Stadium in Kozhikode on Sunday.
Thabiso Brown scored the only goal of the game in the 18th minute.
Assistant coach Ishant Singh made two changes to his starting eleven, bringing Lalchungnunga and William Oliveira back into the lineup.
Played under humid conditions, the game was dominated by the hosts from the very beginning, with goalkeeper Aryan being called into action early on. In the 18th minute, the hosts broke the deadlock through Thabiso Brown, who slotted his shot past Aryan into the back of the net.
The remainder of the first half saw Gokulam Kerala FC create several more chances, but Aryan was at his best to prevent them from doubling their lead.
In the second half, the Deccan Warriors came out with more attacking intent, creating a few half-chances, though none posed a real threat to the Malabarians’ goal.
Brandon Vanlalremdika was introduced in the 61st minute, followed by Sajid Dhot and Rolieny Bonevacia in the 81st minute in an attempt to find an equalizer.
However, Sreenidi Deccan FC was unable to break through, allowing the hosts to secure three crucial points.
Sreenidi Deccan FC will next face Sporting Club Bengaluru at the Deccan Arena on April 5th to conclude their I-League 2024-25 campaign.
