SRK’s Pathaan breaks box office records, director Siddharth Anand says ‘It feels incredible’
Siddharth Anand’s directorial venture Pathaan delivered the biggest opening weekend in the history of Hindi cinema. Its four-day collection stands at Rs 313 crore gross worldwide. The film has also crossed the Rs 200-crore mark in India. No wonder, the Shah Rukh Khan-starrer is a blockbuster of epic proportions. Shah Rukh Khan’s return to the cinemas after a hiatus of four years has been received well not only in India, but worldwide too! Director Siddharth Anand has now reacted to it.
In a statement, Siddharth Anand said, “It feels incredible to deliver the biggest 3-day collection in the history of Hindi cinema. For someone, who is passionately committed to his craft, this is simply a phenomenal result that will inspire me to push the envelope of cinema in India even further.”
He added, “My personal ambition has been to make spectacle movies that entertain people and deliver the best community viewing experience. I have tried to do that through most of my films. With ‘War’ and now ‘Pathaan’, I’m feeling even more confident to push myself and my team, to try to create bigger spectacles that can make India proud on the global stage.”
On Day 4, January 28, Pathaan sailed past the Rs 400-crore mark at the global box office! Till Friday, January 27, Pathaan had earned Rs 166 crore in India and Rs 316 crore gross worldwide. According to early estimates, the film is expected to have put in more than $6 million (Rs 49 crore) overseas, which means its worldwide total is above Rs 420 crore. Meanwhile, on Day 4, Pathaan managed to cross the coveted Rs 200-crore mark in India. Its single-day collection on January 28 was around Rs 52 crore.
The overall jump in occupancy was around 35 per cent on Saturday. This is expected to go up further on Sunday, January 29. It’s the third time since Pathaan’s release that the film has collected over Rs 50 crore in a single day. On Sunday, Pathaan is expected to cross the highest-grossing Shah Rukh Khan film by going past the collections of Chennai Express.
