Taiwan denounces China’s entry of 18 nuclear bombers into its airspace

Taiwan authorities on Tuesday denounced the entry of 21 Chinese Army aircraft, including 18 nuclear bombers, into its air defense identification zone.

Taiwan’s Ministry of Defense, which said in a statement that 18 H-6 bombers had entered Taiwanese airspace from the south, said the authorities were monitoring the situation with their own fighters and detection systems.

The authorities also warned that this is the largest recorded presence of such aircraft in Taiwanese airspace in a 24-hour period, according to the Central News Agency (CNA).

Tension has increased throughout this year between China and Taiwan, which it considers another province under its sovereignty. Last August, the Speaker of the US House of Representatives, Nancy Pelosi, visited the island, which provoked numerous criticisms from the government of the Asian giant.

Now, U.S. Secretary of State Antony Blinken has warned that unconditional support for Taiwan at the international level has influenced China and has put the possibility of using force on the table.
