Students allege that food was being cooked in unhygienic conditions, while drinking water was not protected with water tank getting cleaned monthly once
Kumram Bheem Asifabad: Thirty students fell ill, allegedly after consuming contaminated food at a government hostel-attached school, run by the Tribal Welfare Department, in Wankidi mandal centre on Thursday.
The students complained of stomachache, vomiting and diarrhea after they had dinner at 10 pm. They were immediately shifted to a primary health centre in Wankidi mandal headquarters. Except for three, 27 students were discharged. The three students were undergoing treatment at the district headquarters hospital in Asifabad.
The students alleged that food was being cooked in unhygienic conditions, while drinking water was not protected with the water tank getting cleaned monthly once. They stated that similar incidents of food poisoning occurred in the past, but were not reported.
