P Vinod (34) of Madupalli in Madhira Municipality went fishing at a check dam on the river near Shivalayam. As the river was flowing rapidly, he fell into the water and was washed away.
The local police and firefighters searched for him until late evening on Tuesday, but could not find him. Tahsildar Rambabu and Madhira police station SHO Ramesh engaged the NDRF team to carry out a search operation for the missing man and his body was found at a distance from the check dam.
Such tragic incidents have been happening as the public was not paying heed to the repeated warnings by police and revenue officials against venturing into overflowing water bodies for fishing or any other activity.
