Telangana Chief Minister Revanth Reddy defends Miss World event, says it will generate hundreds of crores
Says Hyderabad will become landmark on the globe, this is a big opportunity and hospitality will be extended to representatives of over 3,000 newspapers and TV channels
Hyderabad: Amidst objections from opposition parties over the State government’s priorities, Chief Minister A Revanth Reddy defended hosting the Miss World contest in Hyderabad, claiming that it was an excellent tourism opportunity and would generate “a lot of revenue”.
“Representatives from 140 countries will be staying in Telangana for over a month and visiting different tourist destinations. This is a big opportunity and hospitality will be extended to representatives of over 3,000 newspapers and television channels,” he said while addressing a gathering at Ravindra Bharathi on Thursday.
Hyderabad will become a landmark on the globe. When many people come here, it would generate hundreds of crores of revenue for hotels, transport and other industries and eventually to the State government, he said.
In a veiled attack on BRS working president KT Rama Rao, the Chief Minister asked: “Why did you not get such events to Hyderabad in the last 10 years?”
“In the guise of the Formula-E race, government money was misused and accordingly a case was registered. There is no similarity between you and me,” Revanth Reddy claimed.
