Trouble began when the Karimnagar constituency in-charge Purumalla Srinivas made indirect comments against Transport Minister Ponnam Prabhakar
Karimnagar: Congress leaders continued to embarrass the party in public view, with the party’s Karimnagar leaders clashing with each other during a district level party workers meeting held at the DCC office here on Monday.
The scuffle took place in the presence of AICC secretary Vishwanathan Perumal, who was the chief guest for the meeting. Trouble began when the Karimnagar constituency in-charge Purumalla Srinivas made indirect comments against Transport Minister Ponnam Prabhakar.
Addressing party workers, Srinivas alleged that files being sent from Karimnagar were being blocked in Hyderabad by some leaders. Stating that no work was being done, he alleged that a few leaders were damaging the party.
Enraged over Srinivas’s comments, followers of Prabhakar prevented his speech and rushed onto the dais, leading to a jostle between both the groups. Other leaders presented on the dais tried to pacify the clashing groups.
Earlier, other leaders also expressed their anguish stating that a few political leaders, who had joined the party recently, were lobbying for their own interests after joining the Congress even as “committed” Congress workers, who were working for the party for decades together, were running from pillar to post and pleading with DCC leaders but without getting any benefits.
DCC president Dr Kavvamalli Satyanarayana, Choppadandi MLA Medipally Satyam, SUDA chairman Komatireddy Narender Reddy and others were present.
