Rajesham drowned in an agricultural well while trying to catch the rooster that had escaped from him
Peddapalli: In a tragic incident, a 70-year-old farmer Namani Rajesham drowned in an agricultural well while trying to catch a rooster that had escaped from him in Siddipalle of Kamanpur mandal on Wednesday.
According to local people, it was a tradition in the village to offer a rooster at the Pothalinganna temple before harvesting the crop.
Rajesham, who had decided to harvest his paddy crop, went to the Pothalinganna temple with a rooster to fulfill the tradition.
Rajesham, who took the rooster to the temple in a bag, pulled it out when he reached the shrine. However, the bird escaped and jumped into an agricultural well.
While trying to rescue the rooster, he accidentally slipped into the well and drowned.
As he did not return home, the family members reached the spot and found that Rajesham had fallen into the well.
They alerted the police, who reached the spot and retrieved the body from the well. The Kamanpur police registered a case.
