Telangana: Four Pakistan nationals leave for home country

Of the total 213 Pakistanis living in the State, only those on short term visas asked to leave the country; police verify details of others staying on long-term visas

Hyderabad: The four Pakistan nationals who were issued notices by the police asking them to leave the country have left for Pakistan.

In Telangana, a total of 213 Pakistan nationals were found to be staying on long term, short term, official and medical visas. Of them, only those on short term visas were asked to leave the country.

According to sources, among the four, a child aged one and a half years, whose mother is Indian and father a Pakistani, was issued notice and asked to leave the country. The remaining three persons had come for business purposes or to meet their relatives. All the four persons had volunteered to leave for their home country.

By Sunday evening, all the four will be crossing into Pakistan, the police sources said.

The police however have verified the places where other Pakistan nationals are staying on long term visas and collected the details of their relatives and sponsors.

The Union government had asked all Pakistan nationals staying in the country to leave India following the Pahalgam massacre. The police have not disclosed the whereabouts of the Pakistan nationals for security reasons.

“The revocation of visas specified in the above decision does not apply to holders of long-term visas (LTVs) and diplomatic and official visas. Medical visas issued to Pakistani nationals will be valid only until April 29. Attari border shall remain open for departure to Pakistanis up to April 30. It is advised to all Pakistani nationals staying in Telangana to follow guidelines to avoid any legal action,” Telangana DGP Jitender stated in a press release.
