Telangana government forms Future City Development Authority

FCDA to oversee development of Future City Area; to cover 56 revenue villages across 765.28 sq.km in Rangareddy

Hyderabad: The State government has constituted the Future City Development Authority (FCDA) to oversee the development of Chief Minister A Revanth Reddy’s pet project Future City Area. The newly formed authority will cover 56 revenue villages across 765.28 sq.km in Rangareddy district, with a focus on integrated urban planning and economic growth.

Simultaneously, the government has excluded 36 revenue villages from the Hyderabad Metropolitan Region (HMR) and expanded its jurisdiction to 1,355 villages across 11 districts, covering 10,472.72 sq.km. Thus, the HMR’s jurisdiction will be upto the Regional Ring Road (RRR), covering a buffer area of upto 2 km outside the RRR which will be later designated as the RRR Growth Corridor.

The move aligns with the State government’s plan to develop economic and industrial clusters in the Future City Area coming up near Mucherla. The Future City project will be developed into 12 zones, with comprehensive master planning, multi-modal connectivity, modern urban amenities, other future-ready projects like radial road along with metro rail connectivity.

The FCDA will be chaired by the Chief Minister, with the Municipal Administration and Urban Development Minister as vice-chairman and officials from Finance, Municipal Administration and Industries and Information Technology as members, overseeing its planning and execution.
