Telangana govt does not have concern for farmers, says Vivek

Former MP and BJP national executive member Vivek Venkatswamy said on Wednesday. Inspecting the procurement centres at Wardhannapet mandal in Warangal district and Station Ghanpur mandal in Jangaon district, he said the promise made by the government to the farmers that it would purchase every food grain from them was not fulfilled.

Warangal: Telangana government is looting innocent farmers by joining hands with the rice millers, former MP and BJP national executive member Vivek Venkatswamy said on Wednesday.

Inspecting the procurement centres at Wardhannapet mandal in Warangal district and Station Ghanpur mandal in Jangaon district, he said the promise made by the government to the farmers that it would purchase every food grain from them was not fulfilled.

He inquired about the loss incurred by the farmers in the districts and the problems they are facing.

Speaking on the occasion, the BJP leader alleged that when the farmers were crying after facing a huge loss due to the recent heavy rains that lashed out, the BRS party leaders instead of helping them were celebrating and enjoying conducting the Atmeeya Sammelan programmes.

The former MP fumed that the officials were looting the farmers at the purchasing centres by deducting five to seven kilograms by keeping unnecessary restrictions. The state government betrayed the farmers by not waiving off farm loans, not giving subsidy on fertilisers and not sanctioning compensation for the crop loss, he alleged.

Since the state government is not implementing the Fasal Bima Yojana scheme in the state, the farmers are not getting compensation from the crop loss. The BRS government that boasted that it would make the farmers into millionaires is driving them into debts.

When the Bahubali motor pumps of Kaleshwaram project submerged in the floodwater, the BRS government had given a contract to Megha Engineering of Krishna Reddy but not sanctioned compensation to the farmers, he charged.

Vivek demanded that the state government must take immediate steps and stop the rice millers looting the farmers and should sanction Rs 20,000 compensation to the farmers for the crop loss immediately along with implementing Fasal Bima Yojana.

Speaking about the Karnataka Assembly polls, Vivek said that BJP was going to form a double engine sarkar in the state as it was going to win with a huge majority.
