Telangana HC issues notice to Nalgonda Collector over pending bills to sheep sellers
These farmers had supplied livestock to TSSGDCF as part of State’s Sheep Distribution scheme aimed at boosting sheep population
Hyderabad: Justice NV Shravan Kumar of the Telangana High Court has issued a Form-1 notice to the Nalgonda District Collector for violating court orders regarding the release of pending bills to sheep sellers.
These farmers had supplied livestock to the Telangana State Sheep and Goat Development Cooperative Federation (TSSGDCF) as part of the State’s Sheep Distribution scheme aimed at boosting the sheep population.
Despite fulfilling their contractual obligations and submitting applications for payment, the suppliers faced delays.
Multiple reminders and RTI applications revealed that the Department of Animal Husbandry had acknowledged the liability to clear the pending bills, but the payments were not processed. This led the farmers to approach the High Court for intervention.
Earlier passing an order Justice Shravan Kumar directed authorities to release the pending payments. However, despite a subsequent undertaking from the State Government assuring payment within six weeks, the dues remained unsettled, prompting contempt petitions.
The court took serious note of the non-compliance and issued the Form-1 notice to both the Nalgonda District Collector and the Department of Animal Husbandry. The matter is now posted for further hearing.
