Using branded containers, the duo bottled spurious liquor and distributed it to belt shops and wine stores, duping gullible customers
Nalgonda: An illicit brewing racket carried out by two close business associates was busted by the Task Force police in Nalgonda.
According to the police, what began as a livelihood activity for Ramesh of Ganugupalli village and Bhargav of G Yadavalli village, had assumed the proportions of a large-scale illicit liquor trade. Using branded containers, the duo bottled spurious liquor and distributed it to belt shops and wine stores, duping gullible customers.
While Bhargav spearheaded the production, Ramesh, a fruit trader, maintained his fruit business as a cover for his role in the illicit operations, police said.
Acting on a tip-off, the Nalgonda Task Force police conducted a raid in Kanagal mandal. At Bhargav’s residence in G Yadavalli village, the officials seized 1,500 litres of spirit intended for illegal alcohol production.
A subsequent raid uncovered a huge quantity of spirit hidden in an agricultural field owned by Ramesh in Ganugupalli village. The two were arrested and further investigation is on.
