Telangana: Kothagudem’s Prakruti Ashram to launch State-wide nature-health movement
The ashram founder Jayaraju, who worked in Singareni and recently retired, was felicitated by the ashram members and the guests
Kothagudem: Renowned nature poet and founder of Prakruti Ashram Jayaraju revealed that a nature-health movement across Telangana would be launched from Kothagudem.
Speaking at the day-long Prakruti-Arogya Mahasabha organised by Prakruti Ashram here on Sunday he said the movement was aimed at increasing awareness about nature and health among the people.
District Collector Jitesh V Patil addressing the gathering said that if everyone distributes and grows plants it would lead to increase of health and economy. Half of the land in Kothagudem district is covered with forests and it would safeguard the district.
Recalling his childhood days, the Collector said that he used to plant saplings along with his father while his friends spent time playing cricket. These days no one needs to make sacrifices like Bhagat Singh, who laid down his life for the country but if each one plants a sapling it would have a lasting impact on the environment, he noted.
Patil stated that if individuals grow medicinal plants, vegetables and greens in their homes, they could eat pesticide-free food, which would improve health and help to build a healthy society.
Renowned psychologist Dr Pratyusha Subba Rao suggested that change should come from students and their parents in order to live a life of great health. He said that along with physical health, mental health should be given priority.
