Kothagudem: A leopard’s pugmarks have been spotted in Julurpad mandal in the district causing panic among the farmers.
The leopard killed a dog belonging to a farmer at a chilli field at Suraram village in the mandal and dragged it into the nearby forests.
The local FRO Prasada Rao and staff visited the spot under Rajupalem beat, took measurements of pug marks and confirmed it was a leopard on the prowl.
The forest officials advised farmers and residents in Julurpad, Tallada and Enkoor mandals to be alert as the creature was hunting for food in human habitations.
The farmers were told to carry sticks when going to their fields and not to move alone at night.
