
Chief Minister directs officials to finalise draft Bill by April 25, and seek people’s opinion
HYDERABAD: The State government is planning to introduce a new law for the welfare of gig and platform workers mostly on May Day. Chief Minister A Revanth Reddy directed officials to finalise the draft Bill by April 25.
He instructed officials to seek people’s opinion on the draft Bill, which provides social security to gig and platform workers. The suggestions and objections should be accepted from all sections and the draft Bill should be uploaded online to seek opinions, he said.
State Labour Department had already prepared the draft of the Telangana Gig and Platform Workers Bill to provide welfare, job security, insurance facilities and other rights to the workers. The officials briefed the Chief Minister about the aspects to be included in the bill in a meeting on Monday.
Nearly four lakh gig workers are working in food delivery, cab drivers and package deliveries across the State. Officials have been asked to make necessary arrangements to enact the draft bill on May Day (May 1).
