Hyderabad: The Telangana Prisons Department is conducting a Comprehensive Security Audit across all prisons in the State, covering central prisons, district jails, special prisons for women, special sub jails, and sub jails.
As part of the initiative, officials are visiting facilities to ensure adherence to best practices and to enhance overall security. The audit focuses on critical areas such as functionality of scanners, search procedures, visitor identity verification, and entry records, CCTV coverage, recording protocols, and communication equipment usage, inspection of perimeter walls, live wire systems, and watchtower conditions, maintenance of security gadgets, and supervisory monitoring.
This proactive audit aims to strengthen the overall security architecture of prisons, enhance operational transparency and improve the quality of services.
The initiative underscores a holistic approach toward creating a safer, more secure environment that prioritizes both institutional discipline and inmate welfare.
