An unknown person has been allegedly contacting owners of various shops and asking them to pay the fee amount through PhonePe or GooglePay
PEDDAPALLI: Traders in Ramagundam Municipal Corporation limits are again getting fake calls about clearance of trade licence fee. During the last one week, an unknown person has been allegedly contacting owners of various shops over the phone. Informing that he was calling from the municipal office, the caller has been asking traders to clear the D&O trade licence fee of their shops.
Asking them to pay the fee amount through PhonePe or GooglePay, he is assuring that municipal staff will handover receipts to them by visiting their shops. He also threatened them with closing shops if the fee was not paid. Panicked over phone calls, traders are rushing to municipal office and cross checking about phone calls only to know that the calls are fake.
It may be recalled here that some time ago, traders got similar calls from an unknown person. Claiming himself as municipal commissioner, the caller asked business people to pay trade license fees. As the caller number was displayed as the municipal commissioner on the true caller, some of the traders had paid the amount. They realized after some time as the calls were found fake.
Municipal officials asked the traders to be alert about such fake calls. There is a facility to pay D&O trade licence fee online and traders could utilise the facility.
