Telangana: Sniffer dog Yami dies, last rite performed with official honours in Khammam

Police officials recalled the services of Yami in detecting bombs and landmines when VIPs and VVIPs visited

Khammam: A female sniffer dog Yami, who had rendered distinguished service to the police department for the last nine years, died due to illness on Wednesday.

As per the instructions of Commissioner of Police Sunil Dutt, the police officials bid her farewell with official honours. Police officials, along with the dog handler Suresh, ACP (SR) Sushil Singh and ACP Narsaiah paid floral tributes to the nine-year-old Yami, a Labrador Retriever breed.

They recalled the services of Yami in detecting bombs and landmines when VIPs and VVIPs visited. In 2016, Yami, along with her handler Suresh, had undergone eight months of special training at the IITA Moinabad training centre and joined services in the district.

Reserve Inspectors Kamaraju, Srisailam, Suresh, Appala Naidu and others were present.
