Telangana to roll out Karnataka-style private licensed surveyor system

Hyderabad: Telangana is all set to adopt a Karnataka-style private licensed surveyor system to address long-standing land disputes and streamline land transactions. The State will recruit 5,000 licensed surveyors, with applications open until May 17. Selected candidates will undergo training at the Telangana Survey Training Academy.

Based on a detailed study by senior officials of the Karnataka model, which is operational since 2005, the State government decided to implement in Telangana. Under the new Bhu Bharathi Act, the government mandated uploading mutation sketches with clear boundary and title details before land registration.

The private licensed surveyors will prepare a pre-registration sketch along with all details of the land. Then the government surveyors will examine them and forward them to the officials concerned for approval.

Revenue Minister Ponguleti Srinivas Reddy claimed that this approach was expected to enhance accuracy, transparency, and ease for farmers. He said the new Bhu Bharathi Act aims to resolve land issues permanently. He directed officials to appoint surveyors mandal-wise, based on land volume and transaction frequency.
