Medak: A woman, who was set on fire after being accused of practising sorcery, died while undergoing treatment on Friday.
The woman, a resident of Katriyal village in Ramayampet mandal was attacked by some people who suspected her of practising black magic. They doused her with petrol and set her on fire late on Thursday night.
However, local people rescued her and rushed her to a hospital in Hyderabad. She died while being treated, police said. Police were trying to identify the assailants.
Body of the victim, whose identified is being withheld, is being shifted to
government hospital in Ramayampet for conduct of postmortem.
The incident created a tension in the village.
It is the second such incident reported in Ramayampet mandal in las three days. However, the victim in earlier case survived the attack on her at Pragathi Dharmaram village.
