Three Greyhound jawans killed, one RSI injured in IED blast in Telangana’s Mulugu: DGP
Mulugu police and Greyhounds units were engaged in search operations to diffuse landmines and bombs planted by Maoists
Mulugu/Warangal: Three Greyhounds were killed and one RSI was seriously injured in a landmine blast triggered by CPI (Maoist) cadres in Nugur forest area near Peddagutta close to Penugolu village under Wazedu police station limits in Mulugu.
In a statement here on Thursday, DGP Dr Jitender said Mulugu police and Greyhounds units were engaged in search operations on Wednesday and Thursday to check the area and diffuse landmines and bombs planted by Maoists.
On Thursday morning, a group of 35 to 40 armed Maoists triggered landmines from a distance followed by heavy gunfire at the security personnel. Three Greyhounds Vadla Sridhar, N Pavan Kalyan and T Sandeep were killed in the incident while Greyhounds RSI, Ch Ranadheer sustained bullet injuries.
Ranadheer was shifted to Hyderabad for better treatment. Bodies of the deceased jawans were brought to Warangal and handed over to their families, the DGP said.
He along with Minister Seethakka, ADG Greyhounds M Stephen Raveendra, MLAs Naga Raju, N Rajender Reddy, Prakash Reddy, Warangal CP Sunpreet Singh, and Mulugu SP Dr. P Shabarish paid homage to the deceased jawans.
A case under Sections 62, 148, 191 (1), 191 (3), 103, 109 read with 190 of BNS and Sec 25(1-B) (a) and 27 of Arms Act and Section 3 and 4 of ES Act and Sections 10, 13 and 18, 20 of UAP Act was registered at Wazedu police station and investigation is on, the DGP added.
