Hyderabad: Three members of a family attempted to end their lives at a hotel in the city on Monday night.
The trio – Narayana (52), Padmavathi (47) and their son Srujan (23), are natives of Kothagudem Bhadadri district.
According to the police, the family checked into a hotel at Secunderabad two days ago and were found in unconscious state in their room by the staff on Tuesday. On information, the Mahankali police reached the spot and shifted them to a private hospital.
The police found juice glasses in the room and suspect the family had mixed some poisonous substance in the juice and consumed it to end their lives.
Their relatives told the police that Srujan was married a few months ago and recently his wife made a complaint of harassment and dowry demand against him and his parents. A case was registered at a police station in Kothagudem Bhadadri district and is under investigation.
The family is suspected to have slipped into depression over it and consumed the poisonous substance.
The three persons are undergoing treatment at the hospital.
